1860 Winslow Homer Matted Wood Engraving

"A Snow Slide In The City"

In "Winslow Homer's Magazine Engravings," Philip C. Beam, New York, 1979, the author has this comment about the engraving and the companion piece published on the same date in 1860:

A rambunctious, almost belly-laugh type of humor entered into a number of engravings. The Sleighing Season - The Upset and A Snow Slide in the City contain touches of slapstick. In the latter, snow falls upon some proper and well-dressed Bostonians in Keystone comedy fashion.

Below is the print as matted (cropped a little in this picture) and enclosed in a protective plastic sleeve (which creates the camera reflection). The print has one very small foxing mark on the left bottom margin not affecting the image which can barely be seen in the picture below. The mat will pop into a standard size 16 x 20 inch frame.
