1850s Hand Colored Stone Lithographs of Birds of the West Gila Woodpecker
These beautiful woodpeckers are the was first identified by ornithologist John Cassin. On the upper margin of the print it says "U.S.P.R.R. Exp. & Surveys 35th Parallel" and "Birds --- Plate XXXVI." On the back of the backing mat is a part of the railroad expedition and survey report which states,
The print will come to you matted and in a protective clear plastic sleeve. The paper is a little darker on the right and top margins and there is a little dot, as shown, above the top bird's shoulder. Price: SOLD
