Beautiful Connecticut Delegate Ribbon Badge for the 1916 Republican National Convention

We have a large collection of national political convention memorabilia, primarily tickets and ribbon badges, with a unique collection of badges that were worn by Connecticut delegates and alternatesThis spectacular one is one of our favorites. The badge measures about 1 3/4" wide and 3 3/4" wide. The hanger on top with the Connecticut name, seal and American flag is colorful and in perfect condition, the ribbon is in simply superb condition, which is very uncommon. The unique medal hanging from the ribbon identifies the event as the "Republican National Convention Chicago 1916" as well as providing a hodge-podge of symbols of Connecticut. We have a Puritan with gun in front of an eagle, the Charter Oak and colonial charter, and depictions of the industrial revolution which had transformed the industry and innovation of Connecticut residents into prosperity.

The 1916 Republican National Convention nominated Charles Evans Hughes to be President. Hughes was the former New York Governor and United States Supreme Court Justice, and later he was Secretary of State under Presidents Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge. Hughes was beaten in 1916 in a close Presidential election by the incumbent Woodrow Wilson.

A wonderful early national political item as well as a unique piece of Connecticut historical memorabilia in mint condition.
